| About Julie T. Chapman | I am a self-taught artist specializing in wildlife; I've won many prestigious awards for my work (including the 2002 Arts for the Parks Grand Prize and the Society of Animal Artists Award of Excellence), and my work is being collected by museums and art aficionados all over America. Unlike many wildlife artists who focus on highly detailed 'photo-realist' paintings, I have an original style that incorporates both impressionist and expressionist influences. I will be coaching you on drawing and expression, and we will be focused on a highly interactive experience for critiques and discussions. | ||
| About Triple D Game Farm | Triple D Game Farm has been working with professional photographers for decades; whenever you see a postcard or calendar image with spectacular close-up photographs of North American predators, chances are good the picture was taken with Triple D. Triple D staff will be working with the animals to offer us natural behaviors in large open compounds with natural settings. The staff is informal and easy to work with, and the animals are gorgeous! | ||
| DATES: | Thursday, February 14 through Sunday, February 17, 2008 | ||
| LOCATION: | Beautiful Kalispell,
Montana On the doorstep of Glacier National Park! Although the main road through Glacier, the Going to the Sun Road, is closed to driving in winter, you can go partway in via car and snowshoe or ski further in a beautiful, silent winter wonderland. - Learn more about Glacier - Find out about lodging and camping in Glacier |
||
| TUITION: |
$1200 includes snacks. This is a HUGE discount off Triple D's normal rates - over the course of the 4 days we will be working with $3000+ worth of Triple D animals! And, gosh, there's the invaluable access to me. |
||
| REGISTRATION: | $250 deposit to
hold your space, with balance due by Dec 1, 2007. - If reserving by credit card, call Triple D at 406-755-9653 - If reserving by check, mail me directly at 20900 Whitetail Ridge Rd, Huson, MT 59846. (If you have artist- or workshop-related questions, call me at 406-626-4586, or email me) |
||
| LODGING: | There
are several motels not far from the game farm, including Kalispell Four Seasons
Inn, (406) 755-6123. There's a new
Holiday Inn Express that's just over a mile from Triple D as well - I'll
post info once it's available. There is also a lovely cabin on the Triple D property for "bunkhouse" style lodging, with shared bathroom and kitchen facilities, for $50/night (special rate). Past participants have found that, with many of us staying in the cabin, we develop a unique and wonderful "art camp" experience. Daily painting/critique sessions will be held at the new Triple D conference room. |
