I've been exploring the landscape or setting more in recent paintings, and this one was a risky venture for me - trying to get all those reed reflections to shimmer on the water correctly, and also show the female shoveler sitting on the water and rippling it appropriately. Judging from the reactions of those who have seen the piece in person, the risk was a worthwhile one. As I was painting it I was bemused by the 60's "op-art" feel to the abstract reflections. However, no drugs or Doors were used in the creation of the piece.
